Hartland Quay Hard Backed Coaster

Hartland Quay Hard Backed Destination Coaster – Made to order

Categories: ,

This is a coaster featuring a painting I did myself on my iPad of one of my very favourite places.

It is a handmade product that I have made using the process of sublimation. Each coaster measures 9cm x 9cm and the total thickness is 3.17mm.

Hartland Quay dates back to 1586 when it was commissioned by a parliamentary bill which in turn was sponsored by the likes of Sir Francis Drake and Sir Walter Raleigh. It became a busy port with ships transporting coal, granite and farm produce. However, by the end of the 19th century, this was no longer the case, the pier began to be destroyed by storms and because of the introduction of the railway, work maintaining the pier was stopped. The pier is no longer there today but alas this place is well worth a visit.

The views of the coastline are breathtaking. The buildings in the picture include the Hartland Quay Hotel and the Wreckers Retreat Bar. Back in the day, the buildings would have been a malthouse, stables and workers cottages. If only we were able to transport ourselves back in time to experience the hustle and bustle but if you have the imagination, it’s not so hard to imagine the smugglers that may have walked in your footsteps, the conversations that may have been had, the sight of the tall ships arriving into port.

These coasters should be cleaned by wiping them with a damp cloth. These coasters are water-resistant, not waterproof. In order to ensure your coasters have a long life, they should also be dried immediately.

Please note:- Due to the fact that monitors often display colour, contrast and brightness slightly differently, the print may appear slightly different to how it looks on your monitor. Also, because each item is handmade, they will each have their own uniqueness eg one image may be slightly more to the left than another. However, I am a perfectionist so this will be hardly noticeable if at all. All of the artwork is my own and is not to be copied or resold (c) JagosArt J. Jago
